Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is increasingly finding its place in clinical practice, assessment, and practice administration and management. In psychology, the use of AI must be guided by careful ethical consideration, informed consent, and robust governance.

This module offers a strong foundation for practices beginning to explore or formalise their approach to AI. It provides practical tools to help you assess, implement, and communicate about AI in line with professional and privacy standards.

Included resources:

  • AI in Private Practice Policy and Procedure – outlines responsibilities, ethical boundaries, and governance for AI use in clinical and administrative settings.
  • Privacy Impact Assessment Guide – assists in evaluating privacy and ethical implications before adopting new AI technologies.
  • Client Consent Form Templates (two versions) – editable forms ready for upload to your client management system or intranet, ensuring clients are informed and consent appropriately to any AI-related processes.

These documents have been developed through extensive review and refinement and are aligned with the AHPRA Code of Conduct (December 2025 release), APS Code of Ethics, and APS Private Practice Management Standards.

Together, they provide a structured and ethically sound starting point for integrating AI responsibly into private practice operations.
